Mahalo Mondays #5: Fact vs Truth, effort, inspiration

Hi everyone,

I wanted to start a newsletter to share all of the interesting things that I’ve been thinking about, listening to, and incorporating into my life. I’m planning to post every Monday. We always dread Mondays but we should start strong and attack the week.

Mahalo means many things in Hawaiian (expressing gratitude), but for me, it’s a way to show appreciation and love to those that I’ve learned from. So I want to showcase their work and share it with all of you.

Thought I’ve been pondering:

Facts vs truth. It may seem that both are correlated to each other. I think of it as the following- if you chase facts, you end finding things that confirm pre-existing thoughts; if you chase truth, you find answers that conflict with your current thinking.

One will limit your thinking and actions, while the other-while the harder choice- opens up your mind for other possibilities.

Truth is a continuous process. Once you think you found truth, find other ways to disproved what you found. Don’t be satisfied with your first or second answers.

Questions I’ve been thinking of:

What if I pour 100% of my thinking and effort into one area?

What would my life look like in 5 years if I focused my energy on this area?

Inspiring video that I needed this week:

“Who’s gonna carry the boats and the logs?”David Goggins

Keep in mind they’re going for an AMRAP (as many reps as possible) after a full day of 30 miles of running and shooting bows.

Reminds me to keep getting after it despite how I feel.

Until next week,

Scott Nguyen
